The Challenge
Add a new master suite, modernize the kitchen and bathrooms, while meeting the requirements and guidelines of the historic conservation district created after this house was built.

This is a view of the rear of the house. The house was built in the 50’s in a neighborhood that was built in the 20’s and 30’s although the house does not conform, the neighborhood is one of the largest single addition of English Tudor style homes in the United States. Because the proposed addition would affect the exterior of the house, the house was conformed to meet the standards of the guidelines required.

The Solution
We designed a complete make over of the interior and exterior of the home, incorporating a new kitchen/ den "Great Room", new master suite upstairs as well as making the home into a "significantly contributing" part of the historic conservation district.
The same view of the house, some of the features:
new plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems, new windows and doors, all new finishes inside and out.

The same view of the kitchen. Raising the roof and ceiling opened the kitchen and den area into a truly Great Room.

This shows the kitchen looking toward the den (behind the refrigerator wall). Everything in the house was original.
