The Challenge
Two teenage sons, who by "inventorying" the refrigerator at regular intervals, interfered with the natural progress of meal preparation.
The owner also wanted to add an island.

The Solution
This view is from the breakfast area through to the dining room. There is no work space, preparation or staging area. Plus, with the refrigerator door open... access is completely cut off.

Extend the kitchen into the backyard 6 feet, add lots of storage space, add lots of workspace and brighten everything up.
The Result
The sink, wall of cabinets, as well as a hutch (out of view) in the breakfast area remained the same. We duplicated the cabinetry for the additional space and saved the expense of unnecessarily replacing cabinets.

The island has a bookcase in one end, there are 2 appliance garages and lots more of everything a cook wants in a kitchen.
